Kym Marsh calls for NHS staff pay rise

Kym Marsh has called for NHS staff to receive a pay rise amid the coronavirus crisis.
The 43-year-old actress was left outraged when the government refused to discuss increasing doctors and nurses wages after they have risked their lives to save the country from the deadly respiratory disease, and she wants the nation to come together to boost their income.
Writing in her OK! magazine column, she claimed: "A lot of people working in the NHS are on very low wages and, as a country, we need to address that.
"There are people, like sporting stars and people on TV, who are on huge salaries. I don’t begrudge people earning money but we must reward people who put their lives on the line for us."
Kym – whose son Archie passed away in 2009 minutes after he was born 18 weeks prematurely – has praised the NHS for helping her through "tough times".
She said: "I’ve always been a proud supporter of the NHS. They have helped me and my family through so many tough times.
"And now more than ever, the nurses and doctors are on the frontline – risking their lives to save other people. They are heroes and we must remember that, even after this crisis is over."
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star believes those who are ignoring the lockdown rules by leaving their house for unnecessary outings should be fined with the money going towards the country’s health services.
She added: "We must also follow the government guidelines. Defying them is just an insult to the NHS staff who are fighting this fight.
"The people who insist on socialising with people outside of their households or taking to local parks to sunbathe should be punished. I think they should be slapped with a fine, but the money should be donated to the NHS."
