Kym Marsh backs Louis Emerick fan campaign

Kym Marsh has thrown her support behind a ‘Coronation Street’ fan campaign to bring back Louis Emerick as a regular character.
The 42-year-old actress – who plays Michelle Connor in the ITV soap – appears keen for the former ‘Brookside’ star to reprise his role as Mike Thornberry after she retweeted a message from a ‘Corrie’ viewer who wants Louis to return to the cobbles.
The tweet read: "Dear @itvcorrie I think it’s a right ole shame that you’re letting Mike Thornberry leave The Cobbles after such a short space of time.
Us #Corrie fans want him BACK and we want him to STAY.
We want Mike
We want Mike
We want Mike (sic)"
Mike departed Weatherfield this week after confronting his love interest Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) over whether there is anything going on between her and Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley).
With Liz unable to deny her affection towards Johnny, Mike left.
In April, Louis confirmed he was set to depart ‘Corrie’ following the end of his three-month contract, but hinted he could be back at some point.
In response to a fan who appeared to be blaming Corrie’s soon-to-be former series producer Kate Oates for his short stint on the show, Louis replied: "to be fair to #KateOates I knew the deal when I joined, and hey,the door will be left open, #MikeThornberry ain’t ready to give up on Liz yet x (sic)"
He also tweeted another fan: "i was only on a 3month contract! (sic)"
Prior to stepping foot on the cobbles, Louis admitted he felt anxious about shooting scenes in the famous Rovers Return pub.
He told BANG Showbiz: "As I was waiting outside to go into the Rovers I couldn’t tell you how nervous I was. I was pacing up and down, and I’m thinking to myself, ‘Come on Louis, you’ve been doing this for 30 years.’
"But it’s going into the Rovers.
"Even though it’s changed location you still get that sense of nervousness because of all the people who have stepped foot in there before.
"Take away the nerves, you felt like you were standing on holy ground."
