Konnie Huq still wears clothes bought for her on ‘Blue Peter’.
The 44-year-old TV presenter, who co-hosted the iconic children’s show between 1997 and 2008, is happy to "make do and mend" her crop of clothing, and still dons items which were given to her during her stint on the programme.
Speaking on today’s (26.02.20) episode of ‘Loose Women’, Konnie said: "When you’re working in telly, often you get clothes brought for you. This cardigan is from Blue Peter.
"I’m still the same size I was when I was 18 years old.
"I can’t even bear to throw away all the brown paper from Amazon parcels. I do the thing of mending and making do. We’ve got moths in our house at the moment, so often things will have holes in."
Konnie – who has also presented ‘The Xtra Factor’ – admitted her fashion habits are "extreme" and a complete contrast with those of her husband, ‘Black Mirror’ writer Charlie Brooker.
She said: "He’s more the norm, everything is so easy these days, you can order online. That’s why I’m so extreme."
Konnie believes the pair’s different approaches have benefited their relationship.
She explained: "In a weird way, you sort of yin and yang when you get together with someone. I’m a messy person and he’s a really messy person, so by default I’m a tidy person now otherwise the house would be chaos."
The star also discussed how she finds it important that her children, Covey and Huxley, use technology for educational purposes.
Konnie said: "I’m quite analogue and Charlie’s quite digital. I’m the one that’s always trying to get them off screens.
"But if you think about it, technology is the future and lots of the stuff can be educational."
