Kimberley Walsh loved Jo Joyner ‘confrontation’

Kimberley Walsh "had fun" filming her "confrontation scenes" with ‘Ackley Bridge’ co-star Jo Joyner.
The former Girls Aloud singer and the ‘EastEnders’ actress will see their characters – Claire Butterworth and Mandy Carter – butt heads in the school drama, and she has revealed it was a great time on set.
She said: "Jo was a real pleasure to work with and she’s also brilliant.
"It was really fun playing the confrontation scenes out because you really get to see a different side of Mandy which was great. We had fun with it!"
Kimberley, 36, has joined the cast for the upcoming second series, and her character has had an affair with Mandy’s husband Steve (Paul Nicholls), and the former lovers have son Zack together.
Explaining what fans can expect, she teased: "Claire had an affair with Steve, they were never officially an item but they have a young child together.
"She is a very fiery, sassy character which made her really fun to play. She’s quite different to any roles I’ve played before.
"With Steve it’s clear she always wanted something more.
"She enjoys being a shoulder to cry on and she knows it bothers Mandy.
"She enjoys winding Mandy up because Mandy holds all the power when it comes to Steve. I think getting a rise out of her feels like an achievement to Claire."
Kimberley also opened up about her own schooldays, and admitted that while she was well behaved, she "tried to have fun" and knew how to say the right things.
Speaking to the Channel 4 website, she added: "I was more distinction than detention at school but I was really more in the middle. I did what I had to do, tried to have fun while keeping the teachers happy. I was pretty good at talking my way out of trouble!"
The second series of ‘Ackley Bridge’ starts at 8pm on Tuesday night (05.06.18) on Channel 4.
