Khali Best broke code of conduct

EastEnders’ Khali Best was suspended for breaching the soap’s code of conduct.

The 26-year-old star – who is known for his role as mechanic Dexter Hartman on the show – was slapped with a three-month filming ban by executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins, and it’s claimed his suspension stems from bad behaviour that broke the terms of his £50,000-a-year contract.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Khali is in a very privileged position that many young actors can only dream of.

"His behaviour lately has not been to a standard the BBC expects of its ‘EastEnders’ cast.

"We won’t go into details but his conduct outside of work has not been good at all and is a threat to the show."

Khali was reportedly called in for crisis talks with show boss Dominic about his recent behaviour and it’s believed he has had previous incidents of poor punctuality on set.

The insider continued: "Khali has been fined in the past for not turning up to work on time and his behaviour has worsened recently, so much so that Dominic thought enough was enough.

"He knew he had to be tough on Khali to send out a clear message to both him and the rest of the cast that they have a duty as an ‘EastEnders’ employee to behave in a certain way.

"Dominic felt a three-month suspension was the right punishment and hopefully Khali will come back to work with a better attitude. If he doesn’t then he may well find that his future on the show is short."
