Kevin Smith wants to remake Bedknobs and Broomsticks

Kevin Smith wants to remake ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks’.
The 46-year-old director is known for helming comedy movies such as ‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno’ and ‘Jersey Girl’, but now he’s claimed he would love to take on a remake of a classic Disney movie such as the 1971 classic ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks’.
Speaking on his podcast ‘Fatman on Batman’, Kevin said: "’Bedknobs and Broomsticks’ can be remade today. That movie can so f***ing work today. In a world where Disney’s like, ‘Pete’s Dragon!’ and s**t like that… Hey! I will f***ing suck d**k Disney to make the remake of ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks’."
‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks’ was one of the first Disney movies to use live-action actors alongside animated characters, and was based on two novels written by Mary Norton.
The story follows the three Rawlins children after their evacuation to the countryside during the World War II blitz in London. They take up residence with Miss Eglantine Price – played by Angela Lansbury – who is learning witchcraft in order to try and help win the war. Before long, the children are whisked into Miss Price’s world, accompanying the woman on mystical journeys in search of magical artefacts.
Kevin added: "That movie f***ing has it all, dude: witches battling f***ing nazis with f***ing ghosts wearing armour…kids and cartoon under the seas where they play f***ing soccer."
For Kevin, the opportunity to remake the classic feature would come as his first studio production, with his previous directorial credits coming from his own work as an indie filmmaker.
Whilst Kevin has been branching out into television directing on episodes of ‘Supergirl’ and ‘The Flash’, the chance to helm a ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks’ remake would mark his first big studio feature role.
