Kevin Kilbane is worried the diamond engagement ring he bought for his fiancee Brianne Delcourt is fake.
The 43-year-old retired footballer proposed to professional ice-skater Brianne with a £30,000 diamond ring last month but friends claim he is now desperately trying to ensure the diamond’s authenticity.
A pal told MailOnline: "Kevin was worried sick that he’s paid a lot of money for a fake ring.
"He said that he’d been looking for the jeweller for quite a while and has been constantly ringing him but hasn’t been able to get in touch with him.
"If I’d paid all that money for a ring and then thought it was a fake, I’d be dead worried too. I felt really sorry for him."
Kevin and Brianne met four months ago on ‘Dancing On Ice’ and are set to tie the knot this autumn.
Speaking to HELLO! magazine, Kevin recently said: "We are going to set a date for September or October."
The couple are planning to tie the knot in Kevin’s hometown in Ireland, and are set to fly out next month to introduce the figure skater to his family and look for venues.
Brianne explained: "I have found the dress, and our heart is set on getting married in Ireland, it will be so beautiful, and it is special to Kevin."
Kevin added: "Over the next month we are going there to introduce Brianne to my family, and to look at venues."
Before dropping down to one knee, Kevin phoned his father-in-law to be to ask his permission.
He said: "I couldn’t tell you how the conversation went as I was so nervous. My heart was racing."
