Kevin Kennedy has teased fans about a ‘Coronation Street’ return.
The 58-year-old actor – who played Curly Watts from 1983 to 2003 on the ITV show – got his social media followers talking about the possibility of a cobbles comeback as he shared a snap of the soap’s studios in Salford on Monday (25.11.19).
He cheekily tweeted: "I wonder what goes on here?"
Fans immediately began begging him to return to ‘Corrie’, with many of them calling for cameo appearances.
One follower wrote: "Watching the repeats in the mornings and Curly really is the most fantastic character, all thanks to you. Please pop back, Corrie really needs you, even if it is just for a quick visit. (sic)"
However, when a friend outright asked if he was back, Kevin clarified: "No mate across the road at @BBCOne."
While it’s said there are no current plans to bring Curly back to the cobbles, Kevin has previously admitted he would be very interested in reprising the role.
He has said: "I would love to – if that opportunity arises then brilliant.
"The irony of people leaving [‘Corrie’] is to spend more time with their family but I’d have to spend more time with mine if I went back – I’m always touring!"
He also suggested there are plenty of ways to reintroduce the character to Weatherfield, and his alter-ego would have plenty to share.
Speaking in 2018, he explained: "Curly was such a multi-faceted character, I think he had lots of stories to tell then and I think he would be even more interesting if he came back with some tales to tell."
Kevin is keen to explore what happened with Curly’s relationship with wife Raquel Watts – who was portrayed by Sarah Lancashire – and hinted he could return with an on-screen son and daughter.
He added: "I mean, did he see Raquel again? What happened to his daughter and his son Ben?"
