Kevin Clifton was rejected for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ twice before landing a place on the show.
The 35-year-old professional dancer has become a fan favourite on the BBC One latin and ballroom show but he has revealed that he was rejected twice before being given one of the coveted spots.
Asked what his big break was, he told You magazine: "Getting on to Strictly in 2013, after being turned down twice. And being partnered with Susanna Reid, who put so much effort into it."
Meanwhile, Kevin previously insisted he and his estranged wife Karen Clifton are on fire professionally, despite their recent split.
He explained: "This is about to be the best work we have done. Being honest about everything has unlocked a real creativity. We are stronger than ever. As performers, you have to be in touch with yourself and the truth. A lot of people go on stage and give a big smile and entertain an audience, but the really special ones have an honest way of performing. That is why I love people like Robbie Williams. There is a real honest about his performers, and that is important to us when we dance."
The duo confirmed their split in March, but insisted that they remain close friends.
At the time, Kevin shared: "We just wanted to let everyone know that privately we are not together anymore but professionally we are stronger than ever before. Dance is how we came together and is the glue that has held us together for years now. We’ve danced on Broadway, the West End, we have five ‘Strictly’ finals between us. We’re still the best of friends – we’ve got a lot of love and respect for each other. I still see Karen pretty much every day … we’re always throwing ideas around and putting things together creatively."
