Kem Cetinay wanted to dab during Dancing On Ice final

Kem Cetinay was gutted he got eliminated from ‘Dancing On Ice’ on Sunday (04.03.18) because he wanted to dab in the final.
The 23-year-old reality star and his professional partner Alex Murphy were eliminated at the semi-final stage after the four judges – Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Jason Gardiner, and Ashley Banjo – chose to send rugby star Max Evans through to next week’s final instead.
Although he’s proud of himself for staying in the competition for so long, Kem was disappointed because he had big plans to do a dab during his performance of the ‘Bolero’ – the famous routine that Torvill and Dean skated at the 1984 Winter Olympics, earning them the gold medal.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, the former hairdresser said: "I really wanted to dab! I wanted to do a modern take [on the ‘Bolero’]."
But in his absence he’s going to try and convince fellow contestant and friend, ‘Coronation street’ actress Brooke Vincent, to pull the move instead.
He said: "I will have to convince Brooke to do it."
Kem got his place on ‘Dancing On Ice’ after winning the summer reality TV show ‘Love Island’ with his ex-girlfriend Amber Davies, but he admitted before signing up he didn’t realise how gruelling the training would be to perfect his skills on the ice.
He said: "I never realised how hard it would be. To think six weeks ago I was skating around with a penguin, and to think yesterday I was holding her [his routine partner] above my head, it’s crazy."
Speaking about his final performance to Labrinth song ‘Beneath your Beautiful’, which he dedicated to his mum, he said: "It was very emotional, but it was nice"
Although the judges praised his routine, which gained him his personal best figures with a score of 38 including three 9.5s, it wasn’t enough to save his spot.
His rink partner Alex was quick to praise her partner for his journey, saying that Kem made people "feel something" with his emotional moves.
She stated: "To think when he started he couldn’t stand on the ice and how he’s lifting me above his head. He’s an actor, he can make people feel something."
Kem also revealed that he believes his best friend and fellow ‘Love Island’ contestant Chris Hughes would be "too lazy" to take on the show’s rigorous training programme for the next series.
He said: "I did speak to him about it and he was like, ‘I couldn’t do the training,’ he’s so lazy he could only do about an hour."
But when asked if Alex would like to take on Chris as a partner in the next season of the show, she replied: "I think I could handle another ‘Love Island’ guy."
