Kem Cetinay feared ‘Dancing on Ice’ disaster

Kem Cetinay feared losing his genitals during a dangerous ‘Dancing on Ice’ lift.
The former ‘Love Island’ champion took to the rink on the ITV skating competition on Sunday (28.01.18) with his professional partner Alex Murphy, and although he came joint top of the leaderboard, he admits one move – in which he puts the blade of Alex’s skate between his legs and holds her in the air – would have spelt disaster for his manhood were it not for a protective belt.
He said: "I took a big risk with that move on Sunday. I had to put Alex’s blade directly between my legs. I cut the inside of my leg a lot last week.
"I’ve been wearing one of those dance belts – I didn’t think I would be wearing one of those in my life. It keeps it altogether and compact so nothing can get to it. It goes round your waist and is really tight and keeps my private parts up and away.
"It isn’t very comfortable but safety first; I don’t want blood all over the rink."
Kem, 21, has been finding training for the show gruelling, and has bemoaned his height when it comes to doing lifts, as being the same height as his partner makes it more difficult to execute the complicated moves.
He added: "Everyone in their partners is a lot taller than me. They find it easier doing the lifts. My partner is the same height as me so I need to work hard on the technique of bending my knees. I am so inflexible I find it so hard."
Despite finding it tricky, Kem has been in the top half of the leaderboard for each of the three weeks he’s put on his skates, and he says he’s keen to keep his winning streak going.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: "I would love to win but it is so difficult. Everyone is out there to win – every week is a different opportunity to show a different side to me.
"The main reason I did this show was to give people the chance to see a different side to me. Hopefully that’s what’s happening. I love going out onto the ice every week."
