Kelly Osbourne ‘regrets’ quitting music

Kelly Osbourne still “regrets” quitting her music career almost two decades ago.

The 39-year-old star – whose parents are Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne – topped the charts when she teamed up with her dad on a rendition of his Black Sabbath hit ‘Changes’ in 2003 and she had some success with singles, but her albums ‘Shut Up’ (2002) and ‘Sleeping In The Nothing’ (2005) failed to rise up the rankings.

Asked on ‘The Osbournes’ podcast if she’s ever considered returning to singing, she said: “I’ve definitely thought about it and what life would have been like if I hadn’t stopped.

“It’s definitely a regret. Will I do anything about that regret? I don’t know.”

While her LPs ‘Shut Up’ and ‘Sleeping In The Nothing’ charted at 31 and 57 respectively in the UK, her debut single – a cover of Madonna’s ‘Papa Don’t Preach’ made it to number three.

Despite her love for music, Kelly admitted her reality TV and media commitments meant she struggled to find “any balance” in her life.

Explaining why she quit, she added: “I was doing so much TV, I was doing so much touring and publicity and so many interviews and I just wanted to go out and have fun.

“I didn’t want it to be all work and no play and I didn’t know how to have any balance. It was bad.”

Kelly has worked hard for her career, appearing on shows like ‘Fashion Police’ and ‘Australia’s Got Talent’, and even voicing Hildy Gloom on Disney’s ‘The 7D’.

Despite putting in the work, she previously admitted she is “proud to be a nepo baby”.

She told Rolling Stone magazine: “I’m a f****** nepo baby and I’m proud to be a nepo baby. I’m proud of my parents’ achievements.

“I think that what they have done is incredible, history-making. I go so far as to say both of them are iconic.

“But it doesn’t mean that I should automatically be given all of these opportunities. My parents have always taught me that you have to prove yourself.”
