Kellie Shirley would return to EastEnders for ‘juicy storyline’

Kellie Shirley would return to ‘EastEnders’ for a "juicy storyline".

The 39-year-old actress played Carly Wicks on and off from 2006 to 2012, and while she is enjoying starring in Sky One comedy-drama ‘In the Long Run’, she has "unfinished business" on the BBC One soap.

She said: "My on-screen family are still in it – Danny Dyer [Mick Carter] plays my brother and Linda Henry [Shirley Carter] is my mum.

"There’s always unfinished business in Walford, but if ‘In the Long Run’ gets another series then I’m signed up to do that.

"If there’s a really juicy storyline then of course I’d love to go back to ‘EastEnders’."

Kellie is still close to Emma Barton (Honey Mitchell) and Albert Square legend Dame Barbara Windsor (Peggy Mitchell), who has had a "massive impact" on her life.

She said: "I made some really good mates there.

"Emma Barton’s still a really good friend, and I wouldn’t have met Barbara Windsor without it, and she’s had a massive impact on my life.

"I learnt loads there as a young actor – I was 21 when I started on ‘EastEnders’."

Kellie raised money for Barbara last year when taking part in a sponsored Memory Walk for the Alzheimer’s Society’s, after the ‘Carry On’ star was diagnosed with the disease in 2014.

She added to new! magazine: "I did it last year after running the London Marathon. It was a really nice morning with a couple of my mates and we walked 10k.

"It was a really inspirational day and you get to raise some hard cash for an amazing charity.

"There will be a million people living with dementia in the UK by 2025, so it’s a pandemic in itself.

"I’m also close to Barbara and she’s been a huge influence in my life, and she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2014."
