Kay Burley refused to compete on ‘The Jump’ earlier this year.
The 55-year-old newsreader – who was left fearing for her life in 2007 when she injured her spine after taking part on ‘Dancing on Ice’ – has revealed bosses of the Channel 4 show approached her and offered her the chance to join the winter sports programme in January but she turned them down because she knew she’d end up "badly injured."
And in hindsight, she’s glad she snubbed their offer after her close friend Tina Hobley – among others – was forced to pull out of the competition a few weeks in after dislocating her elbow.
She explained: "I was asked to do ‘The Jump’ this year. Wasn’t that a good body swerve? I could see what was going to happen. My lovely friend Tina Hobley was badly injured and it reminded me of ‘Dancing On Ice’."
Meanwhile, although Kay isn’t keen on slipping into her thermals and hitting the Austrian slopes any time soon, she wouldn’t turn down the chance to compete on BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
She told The Sun newspaper: "I keep hoping every year that they’re going to ring. I’d want to dance with professional dancer Anton Du Beke. We might be a bit mischievous together."
