Katya Jones’ husband Neil is set to replace Brendan Cole on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The choreographer always takes part on the BBC One latin and ballroom show but he will now have a starring role, thanks to the departure of the dancing veteran.
The show’s voiceover artist Alan Dedicoat said: "Neil Jones is doing it this year. He’s always been on the show but not coupled with someone, so it’ll be interesting to see how he does."
And a source added to The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: "Neil has been a choreographer on the show since Katya joined but has always been keen to be partnered with one of the celebrities. He is well liked by the other dancers and crew and he has a wicked personality. Producers are lining him up for a star role. The only thing that could stand in his way is height."
Stars have begun to sign up for the new series of the show including BBC newsreader Kate Silverton, Pussycat Dolls’ Ashley Roberts, radio presenter Vick Hope and Steps’ Faye Tozer.
Of Kate’s decision to join, a source said: "Kate has been at the top of the producers’ wish list for more than a decade. But she has always put her career and family above everything. Now she’s polishing off her dancing shoes and can’t wait to get started. She was asked previously but was reporting on the front line in Iraq and Afghanistan so couldn’t do it. Kate has made no secret of how much she loves ‘Strictly’ so being able to take part is a dream come true."
