Katy Perry pulls out of event citing ‘family emergency’

Katy Perry has pulled out of an appearance at the 11.11 Global Shopping Festival Gala tonight (10.11.16) citing a "family emergency".
The ‘Rise’ hitmaker was due to perform at the event held in Shenzhen in China, but has taken to Weibo to let her Chinese fans know she won’t be able to attend due to a crisis at home, however, she has vowed to make it up to them and return to East Asia soon.
In a post on her official account on the Chinese app, she wrote: "Regretfully, I must cancel my appearance on the Alibaba Double 11 due to a family emergency.
I am very sorry to disappoint my fans and look forward to seeing you in China soon (sic)"
The event’s organisers Alibaba said in a statement: "Alibaba and all of her fans in China are naturally very disappointed.
"We would like to send Katy our best wishes at this difficult time, and hope that we can see her in China soon."
Katy is yet to comment on her Twitter, Facebook or Instagram pages about the emergency.
The 32-year-old pop superstar, who backed Hillary Clinton throughout the US presidential election, has spent the last few days protesting against the newly appointed President of America Donald Trump and has urged the Republican to "rise up" to his job.
Alongside a heart emoji and a set of hands in prayer, she wrote on Twitter: "Gonna cry my false eye lashes off tonight."
She also retweeted a series of messages from other Twitter, urging the electorate to "come together".
The messages read: "Be tired. Be mad. Be honest & concerned. But be not afraid. Rest up. Be safe. Come together. Construct. Know your surroundings. Be creative … Lets put the evolution in revolution (sic)"
