Katie Price wants to adopt a newborn baby.
The 38-year-old TV star has started the formal process to give a home to an unwanted child and she is looking to held a tot from overseas.
Katie has decided she wants a baby because she is worried about the impact an older child with potential emotional problems could have on her own five children – Harvey, 14, Junior, 11, and Princess, nine, from past relationships, and Jett, three, and Bunny, two, with her husband Kieran Hayler.
During an appearance on ‘Loose Women’ on Friday (16.09.16), she said: "I’ve always said I want to adopt a child, I’ve got five of my own and I’m still going to continue to have my own. I just think it’s the right time for me now to adopt a child, I want to adopt from abroad as well … I would like a newborn, because I’ve got my kids. If I had an adopted child, that was say five, and that child had problems – behavioural problems not disabilities – then I don’t want it to affect my other kids."
Katie is also adamant she wouldn’t have an issue giving a home to a child with special needs because she’s used to caring for her oldest son Harvey who has various challenging medical conditions.
She added: "I just love to mother and nurture and that’s why I want a newborn, to see them grow up. I’m not bothered about it being a boy or a girl and if there was something wrong I would keep it, I wouldn’t care."
Katie – who was previously wed to Peter Andre, the father of Junior and Princess – insists Kieran supports her wish but doesn’t understand why she wants to adopt while she can still carry more babies herself.
She revealed: "Kieran doesn’t understand, he’s like, ‘Why would you adopt when you can still have your own?’ But I’ve always wanted to adopt, I’ve got 11 bedrooms and they need to be filled and I don’t mean that jokingly, I’m very hands-on with my kids."
Since she went public with her adoption plans, and orphanage in Bulgaria has already contacted the former glamour model to ask to take a child.
