Katie McGlynn has called for social media users to "stop justifying negative comments" by starting them with a compliment – after she was trolled over her "wonky bosoms".
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star recently joked one of her breasts was "a little more excited than the other" ahead of the BAFTA TV Awards after a Twitter user pointed out her assets didn’t look the same – and the ex-cobbles actress has spoken out about the "backhanded compliment" again.
She wrote on Instagram: "Me and my wonky bosoms having a whale of a time celebrating this year’s virtual television @bafta’s
"Last Friday I posted a photo on twitter after getting all glam for this year’s awards (so gutted we couldn’t do the proper ceremony as I’ve never been. But, covid…) and someone chose to give me the back handed compliment of "you look stunning BUT one breast is slightly higher than the other" and since then it’s had a lot of attention in the press…
"So I just wanted to show off the wonky gals again to let you all know that having uneven breasts is perfectly normal, in fact, it’s actually much more common for women to have asymmetrical breasts… AND this may be a bit of a TMI moment but I was also on my period at the time of these photos, which every woman (and probably a lot of men) will know, plays havoc with their size
"The moral of the story is, stop justifying negative comments and messages by starting them with, you look stunning BUT… You’re amazing BUT… (sic)"
Katie – who played Sinead Osbourne on the ITV soap – received an abundance of support from several ‘Corrie’ stars past and present, including Helen Flanagan (Rosie Webster).
She wrote: "Your beautiful and so very talented"
Georgia Taylor (Toyah Battersby) posted: "B***** perfect queen"
Lisa George – who plays Sinead’s auntie Beth Sutherland on ‘Corrie’ – wrote: "Well said"
Katie dressed up in a ball gown for the virtual ceremony last week, and while one of her followers was a fan of her look, they claimed her assets didn’t look the same.
They wrote: "you look stunning but one breast is slightly higher than the other (sic)"
Katie delivered the perfect response, writing on Twitter: "One was a little more excited than the other…but thanks for your concern. Have a nice evening (sic)"
The ex-cobbles actress was nominated for the Must-See Moment award – the only category voted for by the public – for Sinead’s tragic death from cervical cancer.
The ceremony was held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the nominees all watching on from home.
