Katherine Kelly says it "would be hard" for her ‘Coronation Street’ character to return to the cobbles.
The 38-year-old star portrayed Becky McDonald on the ITV soap from 2006 to 2012, and while it is possible she could return, the ‘Happy Valley’ actress thinks her alter-ego was very much "of the time".
She said: "I’ve been asked this question so many times, that I actually think about it very deeply. I think that even though it was left open, it would be hard for her to go back.
Katherine thinks fans would feel "let down" if Becky returned to Weatherfield looking and acting like she used to.
Speaking to OK! Online, she added: "She couldn’t go back looking like she did. I think it would be a let down. I think some things are better left as they are."
The ‘Mr. Selfridge’ star recently admitted her character would be in danger of coming across as a "caricature" if she returned to the cobbles as the "ladette" she was previously.
She said: "She was the first sort of ladette on those kind of shows so she couldn’t go back like that because I’m seven years older as well.
"So it would feel like a caricature and it felt so real at the time and things have moved on since then."
Becky departed Weatherfield in 2012 when she went to live in Barbados with her boyfriend Danny Stratton (Jeremy Sheffield).
She was left devastated four years later when told her sister Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) had been killed, but couldn’t make the funeral due to an ear infection.
