Kate Hudson to star with stepfather Kurt Russell

Kate Hudson and her stepfather Kurt Russell will co-star in a new TV series.
The ‘Almost Famous’ actress – whose mother Goldie Hawn is married to the ‘Hateful Eight’ actor – will also executive produce ‘The Barbary Coast’ alongside her brother Oliver Hudson and stepdad, as well as Mel Gibson, who will star in the programme, direct and co-write some episodes.
The upcoming show is inspired by the book of the same name by ‘Gangs of New York’ author Herbert Asbury which is set around the 1849 Gold Rush, during which there was a huge influx of thieves, prostitutes and gamblers on San Francisco.
Producer Mark Gordon told The Wrap: "Most people don’t know the scandalous history behind San Francisco, and ‘The Barbary Coast’ offers a rich portrayal of a period when success was often attained through illicit and brutal means.
"I’m excited that Kurt and Kate are working together alongside Mel, whose astute direction will bring this devious time in our history to life."
But it won’t be the first time Kurt and Kate have starred opposite one another as they are set to do so for the first time in upcoming disaster film ‘Deepwater Horizon’, which is slated for release in September.
The blonde beauty will play the wife of Mark Wahlberg’s oil rig electrician character Mike Williams.
The motion picture is based on the real life 2010 Deepwater Horizon drilling rig explosion, which killed 11 workers and injured 16 others, and the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico which was caused by the same blowout.
