Kate Garraway has hailed frontline healthcare workers on Instagram amid her husband’s coronavirus fight.
The 53-year-old broadcaster – who has been married to Derek Draper since 2005 – has revealed via the photo-sharing platform that her husband remains in intensive care as he battles the disease, but she’s also thanked NHS workers for their hard work and bravery during the health crisis.
In a post on Thursday night (14.05.20), Kate wrote: "So our #nhsclap was a little different tonight. We still clapped & cheered as much as ever but I couldn’t film on my phone as had Derek on FaceTime throughout! – ofcourse we can’t KNOW but I believe he can hear us & thought at least the incredible @nhs team’s looking after him would hear a fraction of our gratitude. (sic)"
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter – who has a son and a daughter with Derek – praised the efforts of NHS staff, describing them as "superheroes".
She said: "THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts – you are superheroes . Love to all in these terrible times – the separation from loved ones whatever the reason is so tough . #staystrong #staypositive #keephopealive (sic)"
Earlier this month, Kate revealed Derek was "fighting so hard" in his battle against coronavirus.
She wrote on Instagram: "Derek is still with us, fighting so hard to beat this virus & everyday I am awestruck by how hard every member of the nhs team is fighting to turn things around & bring him ( & so many others) home to their loved ones.
"You are amazing – thank you thank you Sending love to you all in these terrible times #staypositive #hope #standtogether. (sic)"
