Kate Beckinsale goes "a bit mad" if she doesn’t exercise.
The 42-year-old actress – who has 17-year-old daughter Lily with former partner Michael Sheen – makes sure she works out every day by either visiting the gym or going on a hike.
Speaking about her routine, she said: "There isn’t really a typical day… I do have to exercise or I go a bit mad, so I either go to the gym and do a bunch, or do circuit training or yoga or go on a hike.
"And I like to keep up with my friends in England, which makes my day a bit skewed. When I’m going to bed is when they’re waking up, so I end up staying up quite late."
Though the ‘Love & Friendship’ actress’ 11-year marriage to Len Wiseman ended last year, she insists she is incredibly "happy" with her life and proud of her achievements.
She told HELLO! magazine: "I’m very happy. I don’t want to say I’m proud of myself because that’s not very British.
"I’ve got four brothers and when I was growing up, if you went around going, ‘Aren’t I marvellous?’ somebody would punch you in the neck.
"But I’m very pleased with where my life is right now. I’m pleased with my career. I’ve been really enjoying the work I’ve done lately.
"I’m proud of the fact my friendships are longstanding – my closest friends are people with whom I was at primary or secondary school – and I’m proud to be surviving having a teenager – at least I am so far, by the skin of my teeth."
