Kate Beckinsale to star in Absolutely Anything

Kate Beckinsale has been cast in ‘Absolutely Anything’.

The 40-year-old actress – who will next hit the big screen in legal drama ‘The Trials of Cate McCall’ – will star alongside Simon Pegg in the forthcoming comedy which is being helmed by Terry Jones, reports deadline.com.

Pegg plays a teacher who discovers he has the ability to do what he wishes, in a task presented to him by aliens who will be voiced by Jones’ ‘Monty Python’ comedy troupe, which includes John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Eric Idle.

Finding it difficult to come to terms with his powers Pegg’s character calls upon his dog (voiced by Robin Williams) to help him, and he must decide whether to choose the girl played by Beckinsale or the pooch.

A number of other A-Listers are set to make an appearance in the film include Goodness Gracious Me’s Sanjeev Bhaskar, comedian Eddie Izzard and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ star Joanna Lumley.

Mike Medavoy and Chris Chesser are executive producing, while Ben Timlett and Bill Jones are producing and gushed about having Beckinsale on board.

Timlett says: "We are over the moon to welcome Kate Beckinsale to our brilliant cast. She’s perfect in the role of Catherine and joins some of the best names in comedy. Terry Jones and Gavin Scotts’ script is laugh out loud and we look forward to bringing it to a worldwide audience."

‘Absolutely Anything’ is set to begin filming in March in London.
