Kat Moon’s EastEnders return confirmed

EastEnders’ Kat Moon has returned to Walford in time to spend lockdown with boyfriend Kush Kazemi.

Davood Ghadami – who plays the market trader – has confirmed Jessie Wallace’s character has spent the coronavirus quarantine with his alter-ego, who has been forgiven by Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) after he accidentally gave her an overdose of prescription pills.

The 37-year-old actor said: "The last thing we saw was him having a bit of difficulty with Jean and trying to sort it out but going about it the wrong way.

"But he’s forgiven by Jean and let back into 31, so he’s in 31 with all the kids, with Jean, with Mo, with Shirley … and we also have Kat back, so they actually spend lockdown together."

Jessie was temporarily written out of the BBC One soap earlier this year following an alleged on-set incident, and her return was delayed further after coronavirus caused filming to be paused from late March.

She was spotted driving back to the ‘EastEnders’ set last week after filming resumed on the BBC One soap.

And last month, Jessie teased Kat’s return after thanking a fan for gifting her a pair of earrings.

She wrote: "Thank you @nancy_and_nora for these beauty’s! Kat can not wait to wear them (sic)"

Kat departed Walford in March after receiving a worrying phone call.

In late January, it was reported Jessie had been suspended by the BBC, and it was expected she would be absent from the show for two months following an on-set incident. But she had already filmed her 35th anniversary episode scenes.

A source said at the time: "Bosses were left with no choice but to discipline her. During the meeting she was told to sort herself out before returning to work.

"Scriptwriters are currently coming up with a storyline to explain Kat’s temporary exit from Walford.

"She’s one of EastEnders’ biggest stars and this huge anniversary is such an exciting time for everyone working on the show.

"There’s a real buzz around the set, as everyone is very much looking forward to celebrating the milestone.

"Thankfully all of the episodes she appears in on the boat along the Thames have been shot, so her suspension didn’t cause any chaos to the soap’s big birthday week."
