Kasabian to perform at the Bafta Awards

Kasabian are to open the Bafta Awards at the Royal Opera House next Sunday (08.02.15).

The British rock band – who comprise of Tom Meighan, Sergio Pizzorno, Chris Edwards and Ian Matthews – were recently overlooked for Brit Award nominations, but are looking forward to appearing at the ceremony.

Sergio – the band’s lead guitarist and chief songwriter – explained: "It’s way more exciting playing the Baftas than the Brits.

"Awards should be chaotic and exciting. We’re going to start the night off with a huge explosion.

"We’re going to play everything twice as loud.

"Half the people there won’t have a clue what is going on. We plan on going to the Bafta after-party and we’re going to totally destroy it."

Sergio also spoke out about their recent Brits snub, which shocked many people in the music industry after they headlined Glastonbury in 2014.

He told The Sun newspaper: "It’s a conspiracy. They’re trying to shut rock ‘n’ roll out of it. What sort of message does that send to working class rock ‘n’ roll bands, which the industry is in dire need of?

"Kasabian couldn’t have done any more last year. It’s bulls*** really."

Kasabian are expected to perform their single ‘Stevie’ while a montage of the year’s best film moments appear behind them.
