Justin Timberlake is set to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm on Saturday night (14.05.16).
The 35-year-old singer – who was born in Tennessee – will debut his new catchy track ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’ during the grand final of Europe’s biggest singing extravaganza, held at the Ericsson Globe in Sweden over the weekend.
In a statement, Sven Stojanovic, the producer of this year’s show, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity, we are very happy and excited that Justin Timberlake will perform his new song together with his band in our show."
Eurovision bosses have made it clear Justin’s performance will be in a non-competitive role but, him taking to the stage, will be the first time in the history of the contest that an artist of global stature has performed at the event independently.
Taking to his Twitter account on Monday night (09.05.16), the handsome star couldn’t contain his excitement as social media went into a meltdown after the news broke globally.
Retweeting a message from the official Eurovision account, the ‘Mirrors’ hitmaker wrote, "Can’t wait!"
Meanwhile, this year looks set to be a busy one for Justin – whose new single is his first in three years – as he’s hinted he’s also planning to "mix it up" by dropping an album.
He said recently: "It’s an exciting time, I’m writing a lot of music right now … I don’t want to put anything out there that I have to keep promises on, but it’s moving along nicely with Pharrell Williams, the usual suspects and the Swedes [Max Martin and Shellback] – I’m kind of mixing it up this time."
