Whilst enjoying a trip to Rome, Italy, the actor-and-screenwriter proposed to Jennifer – who he had been dating for just over a year – on his 41st birthday August 10, 2012.
It’s Jennifer’s second marriage; she was previously wed to Brad Pitt for five years until they divorced in 2005.
The engagement announcement came four months after Brad and his long-term partner Angelina Jolie – who he raises six children with – announced they were to marry.
However, the couple are now estranged.
