Jurassic World 2’s $260 million budget

‘Jurassic World 2’ is set to cost $260 million – over $100 million more than ‘Jurassic World’.
The as-yet-untitled sequel to the 2015 hit is set to almost double the initial movie’s budget when it goes into production, as the team gear up to try and create the next summer blockbuster.
Director Juan Antonio Bayona revealed to Spanish magazine El Pais Seminal he would be working with the mammoth sum of $260 million – $110 million more than the reported $150 million cost of ‘Jurassic World’.
What’s more, the movie is said to have been given an official title, and while the 41-year-old director didn’t give it away, he teased it would be revealed soon.
The news of the mammoth budget comes after Bayona recently admitted he was a fan of the original ‘Jurassic Park’ franchise, and was keen to stay true to the legacy of Steven Spielberg when he takes over the director’s chair.
He said: "I grew up watching Steven Spielberg movies and I love those movies and the legacy, so it’s a question of being truthful to the legacy and at the same time, bringing new stuff that people will appreciate."
With ‘Jurassic World’ reportedly being part of a brand new trilogy, it’s no surprise that Universal bosses are upping the ante for the second part, especially when the first chapter made a whopping $1.67 billion worldwide, making it the fourth highest grossing movie of all time.
