Julian Fellowes teases Downton Abbey movie

Julian Fellowes says a ‘Downton Abbey’ movie is a "real possibility".

The creator, writer and executive producer of ITV’s award-winning period drama has dropped the biggest hint yet that the Crawley family could be heading to the big screen, and admitted a musical remake may even "pop up" in the future.

The 66-year-old screenwriter said: "The movie I think is a real possibility. I believe in the movie.

"I think there is a real chance of a movie, which I would enjoy because it would give us an opportunity to deal with things in a slightly different way.

"We could have a crowd that is really a crowd, a full ballroom that is really full and so that I think would be fun.

"But, they obviously have to get their ducks in a row and we would have to have a certain number of the cast or it wouldn’t merely be feasible and that’s not my job, I don’t do any of that bit."

But Julian confirmed the show will never be returning to the small screen.

Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, he added: "As for the musical, the play, we will probably see it pop up in one form or another. Television is done and that won’t be revisited."
