Julia Roberts has "unconditional love" for her children.
The 50-year-old actress has 12-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and 10-year-old son Henry with her husband Daniel Moder, and has said its important to make sure there’s a distinction between love and "spoiling" her brood, as she believes nothing is "stronger than gentleness."
She said: "I think some people confuse unconditional love with spoiling. None of my kids would think I have a problem with that distinction. I do love them unconditionally, and I try, when they do something wrong, to say, ‘This doesn’t change the amount of love in this house for you, but you’ve got to do your homework.’ Because I think that also makes a child feel safe."
The ‘Pretty Woman’ actress is striving hard to be kind to all people, and thinks people need to "stop criticising" one another.
She added to the December issue of Good Housekeeping magazine: "I think we need to stop criticising. Honestly, it’s become a sport – at lunch, online, wherever. ‘I can’t believe the way she’s wearing her hair,’ or ‘He looks so …’ It’s all so petty, and we’re grown-up people.
"There have to be more interesting things to note about one another … and I’m talking to myself here too, because I find the sarcasm and the criticism and stuff like that very humorous, but there’s a time when you go, ‘Well, why don’t I say all the true and kind things.’"
Meanwhile, the ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ star recently admitted the secret to her happiness lies within the fact that she married the "right person" and managed to give birth to a redheaded son.
The beauty said when asked her secret to a fulfilled life: "Marry the right person, give birth to a redhead, and have great girlfriends."
And, although she has a highly successful career under her belt, Julia is most proud of her children because they are the "complete reflection" of the love she and Danny have.
She explained: "The thing is; we have these three human beings who are just a complete reflection of the affection we have for each other."
