Julia Roberts: I was spared from sexual harassment

Julia Roberts says she has been "spared" from sexual harassment during her career.
The 50-year-old actress believes she is fortunate to have not suffered any form of sexual misconduct in the workplace, after allegations have surfaced surrounding a number of high profile stars including Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Louis C.K.
But the star – who has 12-year-old twinsHazel and Phinnaeus, as well as 10-year-old Henry, with her husband Daniel Moder – admits her luck makes her "feel bad", because she doesn’t understand why she didn’t face the same alleged treatment that others claim to have been subjected to.
Speaking on the ‘Today’ show on Thursday (16.11.17), the ‘Pretty Woman’ actress said: "You know, it’s all so ugly in so many ways. I’ve never had this experience. I mean, I almost feel bad saying that because I don’t know why I was spared.
"You hear some of these heart-wrenching, awful stories, and I have a daughter. It is heartbreaking, but it’s not been part of my experience."
It isn’t the first time Julia has spoken out about the alleged misconduct of the likes of Harvey Weinstein either, as after the 65-year-old producer was accused of sexual harassment by a number of female employees, she released a statement condemning his alleged actions.
She said at the time: "A corrupt, powerful man wields his influence to abuse and manipulate woman. We’ve heard this infuriating, heartbreaking story countless times before. And now here we go again.
"I stand firm in the hope that we will finally come together as a society against this kind of predatory behaviour, to help victims find their voices and their healing, and to stop it once and for all."
The ‘Notting Hill’ star also urged any victims of sexual abuse or harassment to turn to specialist organisations for help and support.
She concluded: "If you’ve been subjected to any kind of abuse or harassment, there are places to go for help, including the Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network (RAINN.org). Or call the National Sexual Assault Hotline 800-656-HOPE (4673)."
