Julia Goulding has signed a new ‘Coronation Street’ contract.
The ‘Corrie’ star – who plays Shona Ramsey and celebrated her two-year anniversary on the ITV soap earlier this month – is set to remain on the show for the coming months after putting pen to paper on a new deal.
A source told The Sun Online: "Shona’s become one of the street’s most beloved characters and Julia’s one of the show’s biggest talents so it was a no brainer to keep her."
This comes after the news Julia’s Platt family co-stars, Jack P. Shepherd – who plays her boyfriend David Platt – Tina O’Brien (Sarah Platt), and Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt) have also signed new ‘Corrie’ contracts in recent weeks.
And Julia hinted last month that the Platts are set to be involved in a big, "dramatic" storyline in the coming months.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "There are some really good stories coming up for Shona, and obviously I can’t tell you much about them.
"But it’s been nice to have some light relief since the rape storyline, so I’m really looking forward to getting back into the nitty gritty drama. It’s nice to be able to do both.
"I’d like to see her go off the rails again. From what she came in as I’ve been allowed to explore so many different colours to her personality.
"I’d be excited to get a bit bad again."
Corrie’s James Burrows – who plays Ali Neeson – has also put pen to paper on a new contract.
He recently said: "I can say I’ve just signed a new contract so I’m not going anywhere just yet. With regards to the storyline, I have no clue.
"I’m happy, it’s a great place to work, there are some great people there. It’s good fun."
