Judge Rinder lands his own current affairs entertainment show

Judge Rinder has landed his own current affairs entertainment show ‘The Rob Rinder Show’.
The 40-year-old TV barrister – whose real name is Robert Rinder – has landed his own 60-minute programme on Channel 4, which will see him put his acid-tongue to the test as he gives his opinion on the hot topics dominating the news alongside a host of celebrity guests.
In a statement, he said: "I am thrilled beyond belief that Channel 4 has entrusted sorting out the world into my normal-sized hands.
"Given the state of the current global leaders, this feels exactly right, and I look forward to the controversy of considering both sides of any argument."
Tom Beck, Channel 4’s head of live events and commissioning editor for entertainment, said: "Rob’s acerbic tongue and straight-talking approach makes him just the man we need to steer us through these rocky times.
"We are delighted to be working with him on a series that is set to be hilarious, insightful and no doubt, very cutting."
Whilst Ben Wicks, creative director of comedy and entertainment at Expectation – who will produce the show – quipped: "Rob Rinder has the caustic wit of Joan Rivers, the critical faculties of Clive James, and a legal mind so sharp he could negotiate a Brexit that could keep everyone happy.
"But sadly, he can’t as he’ll be on Channel 4 getting to the bottom of 2019 in a savagely entertaining manner."
Rob impressed the broadcaster with his end of year review of 2018, ‘Rob Rinder’s Good Year Bad Year’, on the channel which saw him apply his legal knowledge to the biggest news stories and moments over the 12 months.
Meanwhile, the channel has also announced new drama ‘Deadwater Fell’, which is to star ‘Good Omens’ actor David Tennant, and Harry Hill is set to host ‘Junior Bake Off’ alongside the main show’s judge Prue Leith and series eight winner Liam Charles.
