Jude Law to join Melissa McCarthy in Susan Cooper

Jude Law is in talks to star in spy comedy ‘Susan Cooper’.

The actor is expected to take the lead role opposite Melissa McCarthy in Paul Feig’s upcoming comedy caper, The Wrap is reporting.

The action flick, which will also star Rose Byrne and Jason Statham, depicts the adventures of an unlikely female spy.

Feig wrote the script and is producing alongside Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping through their Chernin Entertainment banner with Jessie Henderson.

This marks the third big screen outing for Feig and McCarthy, who have known international success with 2013’s ‘The Heat’ and 2011’s ‘Bridesmaids’.

Feig previously insisted he wants ‘Susan Cooper’ to be as realistic as possible when it comes to fight scenes.

He told Page Six: "I don’t want [Melissa to be able] to beat up a 300-pound giant. She has to use her wits to do it. Women make the best spies because they can figure out how to get in with somebody, gain their trust and be a friend … Still, if she has to kick ass in some way, she can."

20th Century Fox is planning to release ‘Susan Cooper’ in May 2015.

Law was last seen in ‘Dom Hemingway’ and appears in the all-star cast of new release ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ alongside the likes of Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray and Ralph Fiennes.
