Jorgie Porter has joined the cast of ‘Fame: The Musical’.
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ actress – who played Theresa McQueen in the Channel 4 soap from 2008 to 2016 – will take on the role of Iris Kelly in the production, which is based on the hit 1980 movie, and cannot wait to don her ballet shoes again.
Jorgie said: "I am so excited to be making my stage debut playing Iris Kelly in ‘Fame’.
"The musical is one of my favourite ever films. I’ve not had a chance to perform ballet for a long time, it’s what I originally trained in – so I’m looking forward to getting my ballet shoes on."
The 30-year-old actress will star alongside Mica Paris, who will play Miss Sherman in the musical, and she is excited about joining the production.
She said: "The movie ‘Fame’ was a big favourite of mine because it really was the first glimpse of what the beginning process of becoming a trained artist entailed."
Jorgie – who appeared in ‘Celebrity Haunted Mansion’ earlier this year – recently admitted she has been so busy of late she hasn’t had time to watch ‘Hollyoaks’, but wouldn’t recognise any of the stars nowadays anyway.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I’ve not had a chance to watch ‘Hollyoaks’ because I’ve been away in different countries.
"Also, I don’t really know any of the cast anymore, so it’s like, ‘Who is this? Where he’s gone?’ "
The blonde beauty admitted she would be up for a ‘Hollyoaks’ return one day, and would love Theresa head back to the village as a granny with 20 children.
She added: "I obviously love ‘Hollyoaks’, I’d never say never about returning in the future but I enjoy doing certain other things at the minute.
"I just like to experience other things. Because once you’re in a soap, you’re there. You’re in a bubble.
"So as much as I love it, I like to space out a little bit.
"I’d love to go back one day, maybe as a grandma with 20 kids."
