Jonny Mitchell turned down ‘Love Island’ twice before he agreed to join the show.
The 26-year-old hunk is adamant, despite speculation, he didn’t sign up to the reality TV series in order to boost his profile as bosses had asked him to take part in the past and he rejected their offer because he had no desire to be in the limelight.
He said: "If you speak to production, you’ll know I turned down ‘Love Island’ twice before. I went in with an open mind and didn’t know what to expect."
Although the hunk won over a huge amount of female fans when he first entered the villa, he soon developed a bad reputation after he dumped Camilla Thurlow – who was seen as the public’s sweetheart – in order to strike up a relationship with Tyla Carr.
But, despite the backlash, Jonny is adamant he doesn’t regret anything he did as he believe he was "diplomatic" when it came to cooling things off with Camilla.
He explained: "I think I handled things quite diplomatically with Camilla and Tyla. Camilla was fully in the picture about me moving on with Tyla and she was very supportive. She played a massive part in the romance as she convinced me to keep Tyla in over Simon Searles."
Just before Johnny was evicted from the villa, he looked set to walk but he’s adamant he never would have quit and was merely going through an emotional roller coaster.
He added to new! magazine: "I think everyone has their ups and downs in there. Everyone has had a wobble where they think about leaving but I got over it."
