Jonathan Ross’ wife Jane Goldman in talks for Strictly Come Dancing

Jane Goldman is reportedly in "advanced talks" to join ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

The 49-year-old screenwriter – who has worked on the likes of ‘X-Men: First Class’ and both ‘Kingsman’ movies – is said to be lined up to join the next series of the BBC Latin and ballroom show after meeting with talent executive Stefania Aleksander last week.

An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "Jane is one of the names at the top of the list for this year’s show.

"She has told friends she would love to have a whirl on the dancefloor.

"Jane knows Craig Revel Horwood, who’s a judge on the show, and he has encouraged her to give it a whirl."

Jane – who is married to talk show host Jonathan Ross – is said to be "very keen" on the idea, and it seems her schedule could be clear to step out on the dance floor later this year.

The source added: "Jane is a huge name in her own right and she’s co-written huge Hollywood films. To have her on board would be brilliant.

"She’s spoken with Stefania and is in advanced talks, but nothing has been signed yet. Contracts won’t be worked up until later in the summer.

"But Jane is very keen and it looks like her diary will be clear for her to take part in the show."

The report comes after it was claimed ‘Strictly’ bosses are reportedly planning to scrap the Blackpool week for this year’s series.

The Beeb has decided to revamp the series by cancelling the Blackpool show and group dances to ensure they’re able to stage the programme amid the coronavirus pandemic.

An insider said: "’Strictly’ will be a very different show this year. A lot of the things fans love have been dropped.

"Group dances and a studio audience just can’t happen with social distancing. Cancelling Blackpool weekend was not an easy decision.

"But doing it in the current climate is too difficult. It isn’t worth doing if there won’t be a crowd."
