Jonas Blue is heading to Los Angeles in January to record his debut album.
The 26-year-old producer-and-DJ – real name Guy Robin – has enjoyed a phenomenal 2016 since he burst onto the scene with his monster hit ‘Fast Car’, a tropical house re-working of Tracy Chapman’s 1988 song of the same name.
Guy is going to busy playing shows for the rest of the year but once he has finished with his gigs and enjoyed Christmas with his family and friends he’s jetting off to Los Angeles to create the tracks that will make up his first LP.
The songwriter – who is performing at V Festival this weekend – exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "The album is definitely coming. I think with the genre I’m working in, which is essentially dance music, I think that the culture moves so quickly that it’s important that people know what I’m about before I go to the album stage. To do that I’m going to have to lock myself away for quite a while and get into that mode of making an album … An album is a different process to making a single and I can’t wait to get into it. I don’t have any time off this year, it’s just solid with shows. But I’ll be spending some time in LA in January to do some songwriting, creating some new music with a different view. I’ll be taking some time to make some great music and then I’ll pull in the singers afterwards. I’m focused on working on singles at the moment but the album is coming."
Guy followed up ‘Fast Car’ with his second smash hit single ‘Perfect Strangers’ – which features JP Cooper on vocals – and any fans worried there won’t be any more music from him this year shouldn’t fret.
The EDM star is going to drop at least one more new track before 2016 comes to an end.
He said: "I plan to get another single out by the end of the year so I’m working on that now, I’ve got a couple more singles coming next year then the album. I want to keep the same style of music, the same big house production."
