Jonas Blue tests out his new songs on his sister.
The 26-year-old producer-and-DJ, real name Guy Robin, has enjoyed a phenomenal start to his career with his first two singles ‘Fast Car’ – a tropical house re-working of Tracy Chapman’s 1988 song of the same name – and ‘Perfect Strangers’ becoming global hits.
Guy is now busy working on fresh music for his fans and he uses his younger sister as a one-woman "focus group" to test out his hooks.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he revealed: "I always go to my sister for advice, I have done from the start. Whenever I finish something I always go to her and I’m like, ‘What do you think?’ She’s younger than me so it’s interesting to see her reaction and how my music might go down with younger girls. I’ve been using her as a focus group!"
Guy’s sister has always been one of his biggest supporters and he repaid her faith by taking her to V Festival with him when he performed at the UK music event last month.
He said: "My sister came to V with me. It can be hard to fit family and friends in when I’m touring so much and my music is going so crazy at the moment so that was good. My sister loves my music, which makes me happy, obviously."
Since his second single became a monster hit Guy has noticed more people want to get selfies with him and he’s always happy to meet fans and pose for photos.
However, he is yet to master his perfect selfie face yet and his poses need some work.
He laughed: "I haven’t perfected my selfie face yet, I need to! I’m not in the mirror trying out faces thinking, ‘This is the one.’ When people ask me for a selfie I just bloody take it … Whenever I finish my sets I always go out into the crowd, I finished a gig in Ibiza recently and went into the crowd and I just got mobbed – it’s definitely getting a lot more crazy now. I can’t just get into the crowd so easily now. I also love social media. I get to talk to my fans all the time, I’m always on Instagram and Snapchat, I love it."
