John Partridge "struggled" in the weeks after his stint on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The 45-year-old actor decided to re-evaluate his life after he was given the boot from the competition last January after his behaviour was heavily criticised by viewers.
The former ‘The ‘EastEnders’ star said: "Since coming out of ‘Big Brother’, I’ve made a conscious decision to get back to what I did before. Sometimes you just want to remind yourself what it is you do and who you are. Sometimes you have to do that."
John agreed to take part in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ because he needed to raise extra cash to help fund his mother’s treatment for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
He explained: "I realised … not from the public, but from myself, I’ve struggled a little bit since I’ve came out. I did, I struggled a little bit. Maybe that was because of my mum and all the pressure all these sorts of things. But I did struggle a little bit with that. I didn’t realise it at the time. At the time, I thought what a load of nonsense. I had to go back and look at a couple of things. It’s all fabulous now, though. It’s all really, really fabulous."
John explained that despite selling his house and working consistently, he is facing a never-ending battle to pay for her care.
He added: "She’s safe and she’s comfortable – and that’s all we can ask for. It’s £45,000 a year and although I’m a jobbing actor, who has got that sort of cash lying around? She lived with us for four years, we sold the house and we couldn’t do anymore. She’s got Alzheimer’s and dementia."
