John Motson offered bingo caller job

John Motson has been offered a job as a bingo caller.
The 72-year-old football commentator announced last week he will quit the BBC at the end of the soccer season in May 2018, and Mecca Bingo are keen for the speaking legend to use his "perfect commentary pitch" to help their bingo callers.
A Mecca spokesman said: "Mecca Bingo is offering him a role as an advisory bingo caller."
The UK-based company – which has 86 bingo clubs – is hoping Motson will be able to use his "wealth of speaking techniques" to assist their staff members.
The spokesman added to the Daily Star newspaper: "It is hoped he will pass on his wealth of speaking techniques to Mecca’s bingo callers across the UK."
Motson has worked for the BBC for 50 years – during which time he has covered 10 World Cups, 29 FA Cup finals, 10 European Championships and more than 200 England games – and he admitted last week he has been "very lucky" throughout his career.
He said: "I’ve absolutely loved my time commentating for BBC Sport.
"I’ve been fortunate enough to witness some of the biggest moments in football history mere yards away from the action, so I’ve really been very lucky."
However, the star – who is affectionately known as "Motty" in the football community and known for wearing a sheepskin coat – insisted he isn’t retiring from sports commentating entirely.
He added: "I’m hoping to keep my association with football and with broadcasting – I’m not retiring from everything, I’m retiring from the BBC."
