John Mayer undergoing emergency appendectomy

John Mayer has been hospitalised for an "emergency appendectomy".
The 40-year-old musician was rushed to a hospital in New Orleans on Tuesday (05.12.17) morning, as he is in desperate need of the operation which will remove his appendix.
Although no reason has been given as to why he requires the operation, the procedure is usually carried out as a result of the patient suffering from acute appendicitis, which is an inflammation of the appendix, caused by a blockage in the hollow portion of the tube.
John was due to perform with Dead & Company at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans later the same day, but the band have released a statement confirming the concert has been postponed due to the ‘Gravity’ singer’s condition.
The statement read: "Early this morning, Tuesday, December 5th, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company December 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed. All tickets for the Dec. 5 show will be honored for the rescheduled date. Information on the rescheduled date will be announced as soon as possible. Should ticketholders choose to seek a refund, they will be available at the point of purchase. (sic)"
The ‘Your Body is a Wonderland’ hitmaker is currently on tour with the band – comprised of Grateful Dead founders Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir, along with Mickey Hart, who joined the band two years after its formation in 1967 – and at the time of writing, it is unknown whether the remaining dates of their 2017 tour will also have to be postponed.
Dead & Company are due to perform at Amway Center in Orlando on Thursday (07.12.17), and again in Fort Lauderdale on Friday (08.12.17).
Meanwhile, a representative for John has reportedly told gossip site TMZ.com that the star is still in surgery, though no further updates on his condition have been given at the time of writing.
