John le Carré set for Little Drummer Girl cameo

John le Carré will make a cameo appearance in ‘The Little Drummer Girl’.
The author will make an appearance in the upcoming BBC and AMC adaptation of his espionage thriller – in the same manner famed filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock did in his own pictures – as a cafe waiter.
The writer has been seen on set dressed the part during what has been described as a "key scene" in the six-part mini series based on his 1983 novel.
It marks the second time he has appeared in a TV adaptation of his own work, with the first coming in the hugely popular series ‘The Night Manager’.
The upcoming thriller will see highly regarded filmmaker Park Chan-wook make his television debut, as he is set to direct all six hours of the programme.
It’s set to feature an all-star ensemble with Alexander Skarsgard, Michael Shannon and Florence Pugh all appearing in the highly anticipated show.
The story – set in the 1970s but described as "sharply contemporary" – sees young actress Charlie Pugh strike up a friendship with an intriguing stranger called Becker (Skargard) on holiday, before it becomes apparent his intentions are far from romantic.
He is actually an Israeli intelligence officer, and Charlie gets embroiled in a high stakes plot orchestrated by Spymaster Kurtz (Shannon).
In a previous statement, Chan-wook said: "At the core of this story is an extremely painful, but thrilling, romance…
"I am excited at the prospect of seeing how the drumbeats of Florence Pugh, the most energetic young female actor I have seen recently, will resonate with the audience."
