John Challis has hit out at a "mindless little rat" who smashed his car windscreen, resulting in him having to fork out £312 to fix the damage.
The ‘Only Fools and Horses’ actor – best known for playing dodgy used car dealer Aubrey ‘Boycie’ Boyce in the classic sitcom – has had some unfortunate luck with his own motor, after he returned to his car to find one of the windows had been destroyed, but, fortunately, nothing was stolen from his vehicle.
He wrote on Twitter: "Some mindless little rat smashed in my back windscreen-didn’t take anything inside, just did it for fun I guess.Havin’a larf I http://guess.Read the reviews for NCP Pembroke Road,West London @ you’ll see it happens every day. Thanks to @Shukers_LR Ludlow for fitting a new 1 (sic)"
Several social media users took to Twitter to sympathise with the 76-year-old actor, including his former on-screen wife Sue Holderness, who portrayed Marlene Boyce in ‘Only Fools’.
She tweeted: "How horrible…. so sorry (sic)"
John also revealed there was little chance of catching the perpetrator because there was no CCTV in the car park, and admitted the new windscreen set him back an eye-watering £312.
He tweeted: "No CCTV! In an NCP carpark?! An official complaint sent by me and the Ideal Home people. Not even an acknowledgement from NCP. Who should I contact?Anybody know? £312 to replace the screen. (sic)"
John’s disappointing start to April comes less than a month after he was dealt yet more bad news in March when his cat Mortimer sadly died.
The ‘Green Green Grass’ star informed his followers of the upsetting news last month, describing the beloved family pet as his "loyal friend for twenty years".
Sharing the news on Twitter, he wrote: "Sad day for me. Mortimer has gone. Our loyal friend for twenty years.
"Laid him to rest in Dukey’s kennel in Elgin’s shed where he used to sit for hours waiting for unsuspecting meeses. (sic)"
