Joel Dommett and his wife are set to host new show ‘Home Alone’ on ITV2.
The 34-year-old comedian and Hannah Cooper – whom he wed in September – will be taking over television screens on Sunday nights to provide the perfect antidote to being stuck indoors during the coronavirus lockdown.
He said: "I’m so excited to try and cheer up the nation in this extraordinary time from my own home. I have limited resources – a camera, the internet and my wife.
"We could either make porn, or a show for ITV2. We decided on the latter – although both would make people laugh."
Joel and Hannah will open their home to fans from April 19 to celebrate the the uplifting, fun and ridiculous things Britain is getting up to as they pass the time in isolation, as well as celebrity interviews and fun games with viewers.
ITV’s Head of Digital Channels, Paul Mortimer added: "’Home Alone With Joel Dommett’ is the perfect show to put a smile on the faces of ITV2 viewers, many of whom are holed up indoors.
"Joel’s joyous brand of comedy fun and games will reflect the uplifting, often hilarious things Britain is getting up to to pass the time on lockdown."
The news comes shortly after ‘The Masked Singer’ host feared he would be axed from the singing competition after he revealed the identities of the contestants.
He said: "The prospect of not being asked back for series two because I had told everybody who Queen Bee is, is enough of a scare not to tell anybody."
However, ITV bosses learned their lessons as Joel admitted even he was surprised by some of the identities hidden in the animal costumes.
He added: "I was so in the dark about Octopus. When it’s revealed it’s amazing. It’s not who I thought at all.
"She [Octopus] always really holds my hand when the results are happening, it’s so sweet. When you find out who it is I’m like, ‘Oh my God – that’s who’s been holding my hand for eight weeks’. I feel like Octopus is the one that has thrown everyone.
"Their costume was the heaviest. At the start she could only do 15-minute sessions in it and then after the first episode they added in wheels on the bottom. After that she was rolling around having a great time."
