Joe Perry: Aerosmith are not splitting up

Aerosmith’s Joe Perry is adamant the band is splitting up.
Frontman Steven Tyler has been busy working on his solo album
‘We’re All Somebody From Somewhere’ – a country LP that comes out this month – and has stated he believes the rock group’s next tour will be their last.
Now, the 65-year-old guitarist has come out to say that Aerosmith are on the cusp of a "new horizon".
He told Rolling Stone: "At this point in our lives and career, maybe it is time to say, ‘OK, it’s the end of this era – but there’s a new era on the horizon.’ So I don’t know if I’m comfortable saying ‘final tour’ and making a big deal out of it."
Fellow Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford has also appeared to back up Tyler’s claims, stating that the group have been "talking about wind-down tour which we would call the ‘Farewell Tour’."
He added: "I guess it’s just because of our age. You know, something’s gonna happen. It’s just inevitable that somebody’s not gonna be able to do it anymore. So it would be very nice to take a nice long bow and say thank you and … put it to bed kind of gracefully."
But Perry – who also plays in The Hollywood Vampires with Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper – doesn’t share bandmates’ feeling of finality.
He said: "If it was going to happen, we’re closer to it than any other time in our insane career. It’s an option. It could be the last, but it’s really hard for me to imagine a last gig, sorry."
