Jodie Foster will receive this year’s Stanley Kubrick Britannia award for Excellence in Film

Jodie Foster is set to receive the Stanley Kubrick Britannia award for Excellence in Film at this year’s ceremony.
The 53-year-old actress will be honoured for her "trailblazing career" and will pick up the prestigious award at this year’s ceremony, which will take place on October 28 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills, after she has spent a successful 50 years at the helm of the film industry.
And Foster has been handpicked as the deserving recipient of the award because it has been 40 years since she filmed the 1976 hits ‘Taxi Driver’ and the comedy musical ‘Bugsy Malone’, which saw her play the entertainer Tallulah.
Speaking about Foster’s upcoming accolade, which was announced in a statement on Monday (26.09.16), the chairman of BAFTA Los Angeles, Kieran Breen, said: "It seems fitting that in this 40th Anniversary year of both ‘Taxi Driver’ and ‘Bugsy Malone,’ we are honouring Jodie’s remarkable trail-blazing career at the Britannia Awards.2
However, it is not only Foster’s acting skills, which have made her a worthy winner but her ability to direct a number of movies as well.
Speaking about the reason Foster – who made her directorial debut with ‘Little Man Tate’ in 1991 – was selected for the award, Breen said: "It takes a rare and special talent to launch an international career with two amazingly different performances, and Jodie’s choices as an actor and director have continued to earn a deserved reputation as one of the most versatile professionals of our time."
The ‘Taxi Driver’ star will follow in the footsteps of directors Clint Eastwood and Steven Spielberg and actors George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr. and the ‘Florence Foster Jenkins’ star Meryl Streep who have previously gained the title.
