Jimmy Kimmel has signed a new three-year television deal with ABC.
The 51-year-old presenter will continue to front his chat show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ for another 36 months – bringing his late-night post to 20 seasons in 2022 – after he recently inked a deal with the network to extend his current contract.
The funny man has made no secret of the fact he loves his job but he did wonder recently what life would be like if he didn’t have the show to present.
He said: "The thing that scares me [about ending the show] is I don’t know how I’ll feel when I stop doing it… I could see myself going, ‘OK, that’s it, I’m done,’ and then going home and saying, ‘What did I do?’
"I think that’s happened, I’ve seen people do that. That scares me. There’s that "what if." What if I stop doing and then I just don’t know what to do with myself?"
‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ first hit television screens in 2003 – making the presenter the third-longest serving host in late-night TV – and over the years has seen numerous of celebrities grace the sofa to discuss the nitty-gritty of their personal lives.
Jimmy’s ex-girlfriend Sarah Silverman – who he dated from 2002 until 2009 – even appeared on the show back in September and set tongues wagging when she joked she was "waiting" for the presenter to become available again after he married his wife Molly McNearney in 2013.
She teased: "What’s going on with me dating wise?
"I’m waiting for this tryst with you to be over! I mean, OK, Molly’s cute. She’s bright, she’s funny, she’s blonde, whatever, but come on! It’s not fair. She gets new woke Jimmy. I had ‘Man Show’ Jimmy."
