Jessie Wallace and Hayley Tamaddon want to star in ‘After Life’ series two.
The ‘EastEnders’ actress and the former ‘Coronation Street’ star have made public appeals to the sitcom’s creator Ricky Gervais to ask if he can write a role for them, after the 57-year-old star confirmed he is penning a second season.
Jessie – who plays Kat Moon in the BBC One soap – wrote: "can i be in it? (sic)"
Hayley – who previously starred as Andrea Beckett on the cobbles – replied: "Exactly what I said!"
The pair’s messages came after Ricky thanked fans for their praise after the first series aired on Netflix.
He tweeted: "Thanks again for all the love for #AfterLife. I have never had a reaction like this. The reviews have been great but the response from viewers has been fucking amazing. And that means so much more to me. You are the best fans in the world. Oh, and I’ve started writing series 2. (sic)"
Jessie and Hayley are not the only soap stars who have publicly praised ‘After Life’.
Nitin Ganatra – who recently departed his ‘EastEnders’ role as Masood Ahmed – says the "thought-provoking" and "uplifting" series will sit with him "for a long time".
He wrote: "Just finished #Afterlife What an experience. What a remarkable, moving, sad, depressing, thought-provoking, joyful, uplifting, truthful, life affirming piece of work. Congratulations @rickygervais and @charlietantrum and all involved. Its going to sit with me for a long time. (sic)"
And Tamzin Outhwaite – who portrays Mel Owen in ‘EastEnders’ – is also a huge fan of the series.
She wrote: "Isn’t it brilliant? Im going to watch the whole thing again this week. I am sure I must have missed bits and I like the way it makes me feel. Substance. Loyalty. Real love. Hilarious , emotional and rooted in reality. (sic)"
