Jessica Chastain’s grandmother pushed her into acting.
The 39-year-old actress has her maternal grandma to thank for her impressive career in film because she was the one who took her to plays as a child.
She explained: "I had a very active imagination, and then my grandma took me to a play. She made it clear that this was a professional theatre company, that this was their job – she wanted me to know that it was a treat So then I saw a little girl on stage and I was like, ‘OK, so this is totally my job too! This is what I’m going to do. I’m ready.’
"My poor mum – I was always like, ‘Mom, can you take me to LA so I can be in commercials?’ I don’t think my parents thought that was even a real possibility!"
And the flame-haired beauty returned the favour when she picked up her first Oscar for ‘The Help’ by taking her grandma to the glamorous ceremony.
She explained to the Guardian newspaper: "It was one of the best days of my life. Just watching her watch everything. She was just goo-goo. She said it was the best day of her life."
